We have professional due diligence reports on more than 120 community development institutions in the US and abroad. These reports include up-to-date analysis and evaluation of an institution’s programs, management and finances. Due diligence reports and related monitoring services are available on a fee-for-service basis, as are quarterly updates. We also accept requests for custom reports on organizations not already under our review.
For free profile information, refer to the Community Investment Profiles Database, which provides profiles of hundreds of nonprofit organizations.
CIP is ready to work with you to customize your own community investment program, specific to investor needs, desired level of risk and the kind of social impact you want to make through investment.
Through our fee-based consulting service, we work with clients to define processes and guidelines for their own community investment programs. CIP will walk you through all aspects of a disciplined investment program, including:
CIP is also available to manage all or part of the program on an ongoing basis.
A range of instrument types can be administered, and CIP is prepared to execute promissory notes, serve as a custodian, and track and route payments of principal and interest. The promissory note used by CIP has been successfully applied in scores of investments with community development organizations in the US and abroad. In addition, CIP can provide:
CIP manages more than $18 million in federally insured CD pools. Depositories selected for participation include community development banks, community credit unions, minority-owned banks and others with dedicated community development operations. Some depositories are members of Certificate of Deposit Account Registry Service® (CDARS) and may receive insured deposits up to $20 million. Institutional investors may select the depositaries to be included in the pool. The CD pool product is particularly attractive to institutions seeking to address pricing and risk assessment issues.
In cases where the client wishes to act as an intermediary and reach outside individual or institutional investors, CIP can register a security at the state or national level, or create a private label of Calvert Foundation’s existing Calvert Community Investment Note. CIP can administer individual investment accounts that contribute to the total flow of funds available to be invested.
