Individual BiosMichael Grossman, Manager of International Investments
Prior to McKinsey, he was Senior Director for Africa and Senior Director for Financial Services at the Millennium Challenge Corporation, a U.S. Government development agency, where he developed over $1.5 billion investment programs to support economic growth and poverty reduction in Madagascar, Mali, Benin and Morocco. Michael was Managing Director and Citigroup Country Officer in Tunisia where he was responsible for day-to-day management of Citibank’s commercial and retail operations. In addition, he was Managing Director and Citigroup Country Officer in Dakar, Senegal and Senior Operations Officer in Casablanca, Morocco. Michael helped create Citibank’s West African regional corporate finance/capital markets business based in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire where he led the development and implementation of innovative products like remittance backed bonds, commercial paper, note issuance facilities, currency derivatives, and local currency corporate bonds. Previously, Michael participated in a joint Harvard Business School-International Finance Corporation review of best corporate practices in Africa and prepared several HBS case studies on African corporate behavior. Michael holds an MS in Finance from MIT Sloan School of Management and a BS from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service. |


Prior to joining Calvert Foundation, Michael Grossman was a Senior Advisor to McKinsey & Company’s Social Sector Office where he worked on economic development assignments with a focus on the financial sector and inclusive agriculture development. In addition, Michael led the creation of the African Development Bank’s $1 billion Trade Finance Initiative and developed small enterprise financing strategies for two African governements.
