Honor Mom by Joining our Annual Campaign to Empower Women

Empowerment. Dignity. Hope. These are the gifts you can give to mothers around the world when you join Calvert Foundation's Honor Mom, Empower Women campaign. We support organizations that make microfinance loans to help women build businesses, provide for their families and send their children to school.

Jane Wanjiru Mbugua is a Kenyan farmer who used her first loan from Kenya Women Finance Trust DTM (KWFT) to buy pigs to raise. Thanks to her good repayment record, she had the opportunity to take a greenhouse loan from KWFT. The MFI negotiated a favourable price with the manufacturer and organized the installation of Jane’s greenhouse and a water tank to help with irrigation. Jane is now growing tomatoes to sell at the market and to her neighbors. Jane: "I use the money I make to grow my farming business, to pay my daughter’s school fees and my own expenses, and to repay the loan and to save."
