Custom Targeting for Institutions

Custom targeting ensures that your institution's community investment is supporting programs consistent with your mission.

Institutions purchasing Calvert Community Investment (CCI) Notes of $50,000 or more may customize their investments to concentrate investment in specific geographic interests (e.g. in a particular city) or along programmatic impact goals (e.g. microfinance or affordable housing). In some instances, Calvert Foundation will consider targeting investment toward an organization outside of our existing portfolio.

When setting up custom targeting for your investment, we commit to placing an equal or greater value in the particular region, sector or organization you have chosen. This is done by pooling all incoming investment capital (whether targeted or not) and then distributing out through the pool, spreading credit risk over the entire portfolio and benefiting from securities enhancements we have put in place to protect investors, who are fully protected by our credit enhancements.

Calvert Foundation imposes the same credit quality standards across all of the borrowing organizations in our portfolio. Because of this, we will need to ensure that we can place this capital in a way that is consistent with our overall credit quality guidelines before approving a desired targeting request. Targeting is only undertaken in consultation with Calvert Foundation and when adequate due diligence has been performed.

Targeting options are available in increments of $25,000 or more. A $50,000 investor, therefore, can place targeted capital with two borrowing organizations. A $100,000 investor could target investment to a maximum of four borrowing organization. Calvert Foundation may require up to six months to execute on targeting commitments.
