What/who inspires you?

My children continue to challenge and inspire me daily. My daughter tells me to “wake up” when I am not present, and my son’s sense of wonder and curiosity keeps me there.

If you could have dinner with anyone (from the present, past or future), who would it be and why?

Henry Winkler, I really liked “the Fonz” as a kid, and as an adult I really admire his career choices. He has written children books about dyslexia, helped create McGyver to showcase an action hero that never used a gun, and is totally comfortable not being at the top of any earning or popularity list. I would love to know what he is working on next.

Describe an opportunity someone gave you that made a big difference in your life.

In the fall of my Kindergarten year, I happened to be a little early arriving to school one morning and Bert Ruff, the principal, made small talk with me in the hall about the weather. Being a geeky kid and early reader, I answered with the forecast from the day’s newspaper. He asked me to read the forecast on the following morning’s school announcements, and my public speaking career was launched. He was a terrific mentor and remains a model for me in many ways.
