Celebrate Mother's Day with a Gift of Hope

Working to Protect the People We Help

Financial services have the power to help people improve their lives, often dramatically so. If offered carelessly or used improperly, however, financial services – particularly the extension of credit – can cause more harm than good. The Campaign for Client Protection was established to protect microfinance borrowers from the dangers of poorly managed and over-extended credit.

Christina Conrad, a Senior Investment Officer at Calvert Foundation, recently helped the Campaign establish six principles for microfinance lending. These principles provide guidance for microfinance organizations to prevent borrowers from taking on too much debt, protect client privacy, and promote ethical behavior of bank employees.
